After a decade of experience in the field John launched CAPPIELLO LAW & MEDIATION in 2025 to provide individuals & families with highly personalized, cost-effective and accessible mediation and legal services.
A career litigator, in both the private and public sectors, John has handled hundreds of family law matters in court. The takeaway? There are no “winners” in litigating family disputes. Regardless of the eventual outcome the litigation process leaves individuals and families burnt out, scarred and financially depleted. John happily serves folks from all walks of life, in New York and across the country. A proud member of the gay community John specializes in working with LGBT+ clients with the awareness and personal understanding that gay and queer relationships are unique and, therefore, often require creative solutions when in turmoil or separation.
John is a graduate of the Loyola University Maryland and Northeastern University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and is a member of the LGBT Bar NY, where he previously served as co-chair of the Family and Matrimonial Law Committee, and the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York. John is also a Teach for America alumni.
A Connecticut native John lives in New York City with his husband, William, and their chihuahua, Ripley.
